Do I need crutches for a Patellar dislocation?

Dislocated the kneecap of my left knee. I've bound it and everything but walking is too painful and putting pressure on my right leg and back. I need to be able to get on buses and walk a short distance as I need to travel into college to do A-Level exams. Would crutches from A&E help?
